Prudish council chiefs have forced a car wash firm into a U-turn over a tongue-in-cheek sign advertising "The Best Hand Job in Bolton". The offending sign erected at the Big Wash car wash in Burnden, Greater Manchester, raised hackles among town hall bosses, who blasted the owners for its double meaning. Critics said Bolton Council should "lighten up" - but local government officials told the firm that parents should be concerned about their teenage children reading the sign. The authority sent an officer to speak to the car wash's owner Mark Powell this week - and he agreed to change the word "job" to "wash".
