This is the chilling video message from a young British jihadist fighting on the frontline in Syria. Amer Deghayes, 20, grew up in Brighton, enjoying lessons in media and film at college, and going swimming. But now he believes it is his "duty" to fight for rebels in Syria's civil war, and will not leave until the job is done. Deghayes has gone to fight the "holy war" for rebel groups against Bashar al Assad's regime. Talking about his motivation in a documentary for VICE News, he said: "I'm in Syria's civil war because I believe it's my duty to fight it... The Muslim nation is like one body. If one part complains the other parts react. I don't see it as a Syrian conflict, I see it as an Islamic conflict." Amer is one of 500 British jihadists thought to be fighting in Syria and Iraq. Earlier this year he saw his younger brother, 18-year-old Abudllah die in battle. "My brother was killed on the front line," Amer said. "When he ran in, the army ran away and retreated, so he was killed for a really good cause and his death was a sign of martyrdom. As he fell back he laughed and he smiled." www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/why-im-fighting-syrias-civil-3775190#ixzz35v0E2LrP Follow us: @dailymirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook
