Junaid Hussain (aka Abu Hussain Al Britani), aged 20, from Kings Heath is thought to be one of the kidnappers who held John Foley in Syria before he was beheaded last week
An elite band of US crack counter-terror cops is set to touch down in the Midlands as the net closes in on the brutal British killer of an American journalist, the Sunday Mercury can reveal today.
Up to a dozen specialist police officers attached to the FBI are expected to fly to the UK this week as they investigate reports that a Birmingham man may be one of the jiahdis holding hostages in Syria.
Initially based with the capital’s Metropolitan Police, the team of Jack Bauer-style officers will be sent across the country to areas feared to have become terrorist “hotspots” including Birmingham.
One of their first tasks will be to hunt down anyone linked to the British Islamic State (IS) jihadist captured on video as he beheaded American journalist James Foley.
Last night it emerged that a Birmingham man may have been involved in guarding the group of hostages which included John Foley, who had been reporting from across the Middle East.
